Love, Joy, Peace...

We are based in Rockville, Maryland, and affiliated with the Church of God Prophecy.

Our Vision

To be the Body of Christ in our community…realizing that this means doing what Jesus would be found doing if He were still walking on this earth in human form today.

Mission Statement

Rockville Cogop Ministries exist to worship God, connect the unconnected to Jesus Christ, Disciple one another, and Minister to the needs of others.

CHURCH MISSION

We believe that our first and primary call is to the community of Rockville and the surrounding areas.

After years of initial preparation, the Lord has now called us to our appointed task.
With His guidance and leadership, and by His enabling, we will establish a spiritual stronghold of the Lord Jesus in this place.

It is our intent to pray for, serve, and walk before this community in love. Our primary witness will be through lives of loving service and living evangelism. We will seek an increase of the Lord's Presence in other life-giving churches, in local government, and in the community at large.

We plan to fulfill His commission by first yielding our own lives to Jesus, by loving each other and seeking to show His unconditional Love to all we live amongst; to pray diligently and seek to serve people practically as He enables us.

We will endeavor to establish a permanent and settled House of prayer and worship and to serve our neighbors.

This is holy ground. It is His inheritance! We believe that His Spirit will flow from this town to the upbuilding, blessing, and redemption of many!

"The first time you visit, you are a welcome guest. The second time, you are family."

 We Believe!

WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD CREATOR AND SUSTAINER OF ALL THINGS, FATHER OF ALL NATIONS, SOURCE OF TRUTH AND LOVE

IN JESUS CHRIST, GOD’S ONLY SON, GOD MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, OUR TEACHER AND REDEEMER, THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD

IN THE HOLY SPIRIT: GOD IS PRESENT WITH US, PROVIDING GUIDANCE, COMFORT, AND STRENGTH

IN THE CHURCH: TO UNITE THOSE WHO LOVE GOD IN HIS WORSHIP AND SERVICE

IN THE REIGN OF GOD: AS THE DIVINE WILL FOR HUMAN SOCIETY

IN THE FAMILY OF GOD: WHERE, AS HIS CHILDREN, WE ALL INHERIT HIS GRACE

THAT WE ARE A PEOPLE, SAVED FROM THE POWER OF SIN BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THROUGH HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST

We encourage all to find refreshment for their spiritual thirst in this fellowship of Believers. Our hope is that you will join us and become a partner in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. We welcome every race, creed, color, and social status. In other words, let us have a little heaven down here.

CHURCH HISTORY

Our church has undergone many phases, and we give God thanks for this beautiful building and dedicated members.

The Rockville Church of God of Prophecy started as a mission in 1961 with just a Sunday School in the home of Lois Ellis on Travilah Rd, Rockville, Maryland. Brother Sullivan was the State Overseer and Sister Bellis was his helper. The members were the Brown's, Ellis family, and Chapman families.

During the summer months, between 1961-1962, services were held in a big tent set up in the Brown's back yard on Piney Meetinghouse Rd., in Rockville. The State Overseer at this time was Bro. Hartley and Bro. Hutchinson the helper.

In 1962, the Mission moved to an upstairs apartment located above a store called Pargas Co. on 355 Fredrick Ave, Rockville, MD.

In 1963 the church was housed in two locations. It was temporarily set up in a small storefront in Rockville, with Rev.  William Jolley as the first appointed pastor and Teresa Brown Stadler, Gail Ellis, the Browns, Ellis, and Lewis as the first members.

Later that year, the church relocated to Cedar Ave in Gaithersburg, where they fellowshipped for five years.

In 1968 the church moved once again. This time to a house at 14180 Travilah Rd., until a permanent structure was constructed in 1970. The co-signers to secure this undertaking included Doug Routh, Leonard Brown, Ruey Lewis, and Don Lewis.

In 1976 under the leadership of  pastor Paul Littleton the church parsonage was constructed

In 1998 under the leadership of pastor Robert Hagy and with a substantial donation of 150,000 made by Pat Masden, the fellowship hall was built.

In 2001 under the leadership of our present pastor, Bishop Balram the parking lot was paved.

And throughout the last thirteen years, there have been numerous projects that include two church signs, new chairs, new carpet, a new ceiling, remodeling the entire sanctuary, a new sound system, new instruments, and computers along with the purchase of a bus that was eventually given to Ghana Church of God of Prophecy as a gift.

The church has given much to missions and orphanages around the world and we are always grateful to those who feel the call of God to help.

The membership of the Rockville Church of God of Prophecy crossed the 100 mark for the first time in 2011.
